Ecstasy, also known as MDMA, is a stimulant with hallucinogenic properties. It is a semi synthetic chemical compound in white, crystalline powder form. Initially, this drug as MDMA was prescribed to facilitate psychotherapy to patients by a few therapists, but has since turned into a party drug. The drug can be smoked, snorted in powder form or taken as a tablet. Because of its ease of use and because of its ability to raise energy levels, there is rampant use of this as a party drug. This drug may not be as addictive as cocaine, but it is still a highly addictive drug that causes serious health issues. Ecstasy itself is a street name for MDMA, but it has other street names such as Adam, Beans, X, XTC, E, Dancing Shoes, Candy, E-bomb, Scooby Snacks, , Dove, Disco Biscuits, Happy Pill, Hug Drug, Love Drug, Egg Roll, Malcolm X, Skittles, Sweets, Smartees, Vitamin E, Vitamin X, Vowels, Thizz, etc.
Ecstasy causes a sudden spurt of energy and induces mild hallucinations. Sweating, chills, involuntary clenching of teeth, rise in body temperature, blurred vision and muscle cramping can be noticed in some cases as soon as this drug is taken. High blood pressure, paranoia, and panic attacks are some of the immediate after affects of Ecstasy usage, and overdosing on this drug can have serious results that are often fatal.
